  3. Total Data Eradication for Computer Tape

    Responsible Computer Tape Data Eradication

Recycling used or new surplus computer tape has never been easier. Not only is it environmentally friendly, selling old or surplus tape has another benefit: Instead of paying for disposal, companies can profit from the sale of decommissioned tape.

Best of all, World Data Products guarantees total data eradication.

Not all computer tape resellers have the standards required for total data eradication. Some companies simply rewrite the tape header. In this case, the tape drive will consider the tape to be empty because the header is clean, but the data is still there. This means that there is still a chance the data on the tape could be read. Other companies overwrite a portion of the tape but don't erase the entire tape from end to end. Data Erasure is a time-consuming process that can take up to two hours per LTO tape.
