IBM to Introduce a Notably Improved Mainframe

This looks to be IBM’s answer to virtualization, but they seem to be a little late to the game given that virtualization is already taking hold in Top500 companies. This could go one of two ways: IBM produces these new mainframes but loses the battle to virtualization – in which case the price drops and refurbished mainframes become available at deep discounts OR these mainframes become just viable as virtualization and it creates a steady supply of servers and storage at lower costs.
